The French are just so passionate, aren’t they?

Sometimes a little too much, especially in Kirsten Dunst‘s case. A judge has granted the Melancholia actress a temporary restraining order against a man from Dijon, France, who has written over 50 letters and even traveled to the U.S. to try to meet her.

But that’s not all…

Jean Christophe Prudhon wrote in letters accompanying Dunst’s petition that he sold his home in France so that he could continue to travel where the actress goes so that he might meet her.

And there’s more.

Prudhon also contacted Dunst’s mother, who wrote in a sworn declaration that she was alarmed when he came to her door last week trying to meet her daughter.

For now, the French fan is to remain 100 yards away from Dunst, and on Dec. 21, the judge will decide whether to grant a three-year restraining order.

Director David O. Russell is searching for a leading lady to star opposite Mark Wahlberg in The Silver Linings Playbook. Actresses such as Elizabeth Banks, Kirsten Dunst, Blake Lively, Rooney Mara, Rachel McAdams, Andrea Riseborough, and Olivia Wilde are said to be reading for the drama.

The story centers around Mark Wahlberg’s character, Pat Peoples, a man who has been recently released from a mental institution. He goes on a journey of self-discovery to find the “silver linings” in life. The female lead is a recently widowed woman who goes on a sexual binge, and ultimately befriends Pat Peoples.

Testing for the role will start today and run throughout the weekend. Jennifer Lawrence is also rumored to be testing for the role, although that is not confirmed. We reported earlier this month that Angelina Jolie had met with director David O. Russell for this role. It isn’t know if Angelina Jolie is still a contender.

David O. Russell will direct The Silver Linings Playbook from a screenplay he adapted from the novel by Matthew Quick. Production is slated to begin in August.

The Silver Linings Playbook comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Mark Wahlberg. The film is directed by David O. Russell.
