Kristen Stewart’s new film On The Road is to have its UK premiere opening the Film4 Summer Screen at Somerset House 2012.

The Twilight actress stars in the highly-anticipated big screen adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic novel from Brazilian director Walter Salles, which will launch the new season of the open air cinema on Thursday August 16.

Ben Stiller’s new comedy The Watch, co-starring Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade, will also premiere as part of the Summer Screen on Sunday August 19, ahead of its release on August 29.

The comedy sees a group of suburban fathers form a Neighbourhood Watch scheme with a difference to protect their families.

The open-air film season at London’s Somerset House will close on Monday August 27, with the UK premiere of Lawless, John Hillcoat’s new film about prohibition bootlegging, starring Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Shia LaBeouf, Gary Oldman, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska.

Other films to be shown as part of the event include the first showing of the new digitally restored version of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, with an introduction from glamorous Hitchcock blonde Tippi Hedren.

There will also be a double billing of Ray Winstone’s Sexy Beast and Ryan Gosling’s Drive, Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now and Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom.
