Actors Kirsten Dunst and Simon Pegg are set to testify again in the second trial of a man charged with burglarizing their SoHo Grand hotel rooms during a 2007 film shoot.

The co-stars of “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People,” previously testified that their belongings were looted from their penthouse suites after a 4 a.m. scene shoot in the hotel lobby.

Dunst, Pegg and a production team member from the movie are expected to testify in the second trial of James Jimenez from June 1 to 3.

Jimenez, 35, and Jarrod Beinerman were charged with looting the stars’ wallets, purses, credit cards cameras and cell phones.

A jury was hung on the burglary charges against Jimenez in his late September 2009 trial. He was convicted only of trespassing.

Beinerman pleaded guilty in 2008, but Jimenez continued to fight the charges.

Kirsten Dunst is showing her short film Bastard on the closing night of the Cannes Film Festival on 20 May.

Bastard, Dunst’s sophomore directorial effort, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April and stars Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker) and Lukas Haas in a six minute piece about a young couple in crisis that find their way to a seedy motel.

In her official director’s statement, Kirsten writes:
This film explores what makes the unbelievable believable. When we hear a story that seems mysterious or far-fetched, we put more trust in its accuracy the longer ago it took place. As the centuries pass, the truth becomes more malleable. We grow less skeptical of what we might otherwise dismiss as incredible. Our perspective changes. This film addresses the eerie transformation of a familiar myth when displaced to the present.

Based on that minimal synopsis (that smells disturbingly like motel mass murder) and her first foray into short filmmaking Welcome, it’s obvious Kirsten’s got a thing for the macabre.
