Kirsten Dunst has explained the thought process behind her role in upcoming film All Good Things, claiming that she hopes that her character does not come off as a victim.

The film is strongly inspired by the true story of Robert Durst, who was widely suspected to have murdered his wife Kathie in 1982 following her disappearance.

Dunst stars as a character based on Katie in the film, opposite The Notebook actor Ryan Gosling who plays a character inspired by Durst himself.

“I wanted to make sure I wasn’t a victim throughout the film,” Dunst told Collider. “I just did not want her to be victimised at all.”

Despite the high-profile nature of the case, Durst was never arrested in connection with Kathie’s disappearance.

“I don’t know what happened, but yes I think he probably killed his wife,” Dunst added of her personal opinion about what happened to Kathie.

Dunst has previously said that she feels her performance in the film is the best of her career so far.

All Good Things will be released in US cinemas on December 3.
